Library Shadowbox (pt. 1)

I recently gave this beautiful creation to a good friend and I thought I'd post the process of putting it together!  I spent so much time putting those tiny books together, it was a little ridiculous but I loved every minute of it!

To make this little book, which I refer to as the tiny Shakespeare tome, I took a magazine and a very sharp box cutter and cut a square from the bottom left of the magazine.  I then took some old paper I had that looked vaguely like leather and glued it on so the magazine print was covered.  I took a gold Wink of Stella pen and painted the edges of the pages so it looked like the pages had been edged in gold.

To make these little books I cut a 12x12 piece of paper into strips and then folded them using accordion style.  I trimmed them as needed to make the books taller, shorter, fatter or thinner as needed.  I then took pieces of chipboard and taped them together with washi tape.  Then I glued those to the strips of folded paper and viola!  Tiny books!!

I bought the tiny lamp, bottles, tiny skull (which I fondly nicknamed Yorick because of the tiny Shakespeare tome) and cuckoo clock at a craft store.  The tiny map pictured below I wound up not using because it just didn't fit really well.

Crush book (pages 11 and 12)

This two-page spread was a lot of fun because I got to look at a bunch of quotes and decide which ones I felt belonged in a book about me.  Also, I wrote a lot of the quotes myself with this beautiful fountain pen my brother bought me a few years ago and I so love how it writes, it's so smooth and pretty.

Anyway, it's a bunch of my favorite quotes about life, love and other humorous things jazzed up with some washi tape.

Crush book (index page)

This is CTMH's version of the Smash book.  This is what really got me into scrapbooking and then mini albums and  now mixed media; it was my gateway drug, Lol!

This is my index page, it is on the inside cover and as I've added pages I've written down the page numbers and titles on the index card.  This was pretty easy to do, all I did was take a piece of paper from a 6-by-6 inch paper pad and affix it to the inside cover.  Then I jazzed it up with a punched-out border, a little envelope, washi tape, stamps and the index card.

This is just the same thing but with the piece of paper that is tucked inside the envelope pulled out to show the little shoes I stamped on there.
